Butterfly Pavilion

A Partnership for Pollinator Conservation

The Rally Hotel is proud to collaborate with Butterfly Pavilion to bring a new educational and conservation-focused experience to guests. As part of this initiative, The Rally Hotel now features two display cases showcasing preserved pollinator specimens, along with two native bee houses on property. This partnership highlights The Rally Hotel's commitment to sustainability and its dedication to celebrating all that makes Colorado special, including its diverse wildlife and natural ecosystems.

Pollinator Lobby Displays

Now on view in The Rally Hotel lobby, these two striking displays—created by the invertebrate experts at Butterfly Pavilion—celebrate the diversity and beauty of Colorado’s native pollinators. These tiny but mighty creatures are essential to life on Earth.

Pollinators play a critical role in healthy ecosystems by helping plants grow, reproduce, and diversify. Over millions of years, many plants and pollinators have evolved together in a delicate, interdependent relationship. By transferring pollen from flower to flower, these insects ensure that plants can produce fruit, seeds, and new generations—supporting everything from the food we eat to the natural landscapes we love.

All insects featured in these displays were ethically collected in Colorado and are confirmed pollinators.

Native Butterflies & Moths of Colorado

Delicate, colorful, and essential to pollination, native butterflies and moths are more than just beautiful—they’re hardworking contributors to the ecosystem. This display showcases:

  • Yellow Sulfur Butterfly – Often seen fluttering in open meadows and grasslands, these bright butterflies are active pollinators of many flowering plants.
  • Monarch Butterfly – Famous for its long migration, the monarch also plays an important role in pollinating milkweed and other wildflowers.
  • White-Lined Sphinx Moth – Sometimes mistaken for a hummingbird due to its fast-moving wings, this moth is an excellent nighttime pollinator.
  • Manduca Sexta Moth – Commonly known as the tobacco hornworm moth, it feeds on nectar and helps pollinate flowers at dusk and night.

Native Colorado Pollinators: Bees, Wasps, Beetles, and Flies

This display highlights the unsung heroes of pollination—often overlooked but equally important. These native insects come in many shapes and sizes, each adapted to pollinate different plants throughout Colorado’s diverse ecosystems. Featured species include:

  • Bumble Flower Beetle
  • Ten-Lined June Beetle
  • Colorado Potato Beetle
  • Colorado Soldier Beetle
  • Eastern Eyed Click Beetle
  • Lighted Furrow Bee
  • Yellow-Striped Sweat Bee
  • Western Yellow Jacket
  • Potter Wasp
  • Spider Wasp

Together, these native pollinators help sustain the flowering plants that support wildlife, agriculture, and human well-being.
